Chief Harris began his law enforcement career in 1990 with the San Angelo, Texas Police Department. In 1995, Chief Harris joined the United States Border Patrol (Class 286) and spent the next 25 years with agency rising to the rank of Chief. While serving in the Border Patrol, Chief Harris served in a variety of assignments from El Paso to Washington state. In 2016, Chief Harris assumed command of the US Border Patrol training academy in Artesia, New Mexico. Chief Harris retired from the Border Patrol in January 2020 in order to serve as the Police Chief in Stephenville, Texas. Chief Harris was appointed as Stephenville Police Chief on February 4, 2020. Chief Harris is a sixth generation Texas law enforcement officer and his son Dan recently became the seventh when he joined the Randall County Sheriff's Office as a deputy.
