BRIEF DESCRIPTION AND QUALIFICATIONS:

THE STEPHENVILLE POLICE DEPARTMENT is currently accepting applications for the position of LICENSED POLICE OFFICER or LATERAL POLICE OFFICER.

Police Officer Applicants must be 21 years or older and currently TCOLE certified, or certified prior to hire. Lateral Police Officer Applicants will be eligible to come in at the above listed scale. Completion of a City Application and testing is required for all applicants.

The Stephenville Police Department will accept applications from TCOLE Certified Police Officers with a current peace officer license who have at least five years law enforcement experience with an agency of 20 or more for a modified hiring process. Officers who meet this requirement, as well as the other requirements for a police officer position, will move to Phase 2 of the hiring process. These applicants will not be required to wait for the next testing day, and they will not be required to undergo the physical fitness or written test. Applicants that meet this criteria will be required to complete the City Application and Personal History Statement.

TESTING: Testing will be done by appointment.

Testing will include completion of a physical fitness test and a written test. Please dress appropriately for the physical fitness testing. A Study Guide is available for purchase but is not necessary or required to take the test. Applicants may purchase a Practice National Police Officer Selection Test (POST) and/or a POST Study Guide by following this link Study Guide.

PERSONAL HISTORY STATEMENT: All Applicants that successfully complete the testing process will be required to complete a Personal History Statement.

Reserve/Regular Police Officer Applicant Process:

Phase 1:

Complete and return City application.
Complete written exam and complete physical agility test
Obstacle Course and Dummy Drag
Those with passing scores will be provided with Personal History form for Phase 2.

Phase 2:

Applicants submit completed Personal History packet and required documents including a hand written autobiography.
Applicants complete the M-Pulse Inventory.

Phase 3:

Applicants undergo a comprehensive background investigation.

Phase 4:

Oral interview with Administration Staff.

Phase 5:

Conditional Job Offer

Psychological evaluation
Medical Evaluation
Fingerprint Criminal History Check
