JOB TITLE: Animal Services Officer

STARTING SALARY: $2,496/mo $29,960/annual

BRIEF DESCRIPTION AND QUALIFICATIONS:

THE STEPHENVILLE POLICE DEPARTMENT is accepting applications for a a Full-Time Animal Services Officer.

Applicants must be available to work days and weekends as they are scheduled. Applicants must successfully complete a background investigation, interview, drug screening, and polygraph. Applicants must be 18 years of age or older.



Essential Job Functions

  • Performs tasks related to the enforcement of Animal Control law or ordinances.
  • Patrols the city to capture and impound stray animals; pick up deceased, injured or unlicensed animals or strays.
  • Prepares and maintains necessary records and reports.
  • Answers calls and complaints involving animal complaints and related inquiries.
  • Testify in court as required.
  • Works with computers and other electronics daily.

Additional Job Functions

  • Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to successfully utilize animal services equipment.
  • Must have very strong interpersonal communication skills.
  • Must be able to adapt and perform under adverse conditions.
  • Must be able to learn and follow approved State of Texas Animal Services principles and follow approved procedures.

Minimum Education and Work Experience

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D. Equivalent
  • Experience working with Animals

License or Certifications

  • Must have or be able to obtain Basic Animal Control Certification by Texas Department of Health within 1 year of hire date;

Must reside within a 30 minute response radius of Stephenville.
